100 Seasons of Duke Basketball: A Legacy of Achievement

No college in America has dominated the basketball scene over the past 20 years like Duke has. The Blue Devils have been to 10 Final Fours under Coach Mike Krzyzewski, winning the national championship three times. They played in five consecutive Final Fours and for four consecutive years finished the season ranked number one in the country. Duke won five consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference championships through 2003, and since 1986, the Blue Devils have had six national players of the year. No other school has had more than one. As Duke enters its 100th season of basketball, it will be the 25th year for Hall of Fame coach Krzyzewski. He has been honored 12 times as national Coach of the Year and is acknowledged as the top man in his profession. Duke has had numerous other famous basketball names, including coaches such as Vic Bubas and Eddie Cameron and All-Americans Dick Groat, Art Heyman, and Jeff Mullins. The Blue Devils play in Cameron Indoor Stadium, which has become a basketball shrine. The vociferous student body, the Cameron Crazies, camp out before home games in a tent city they call Krzyzewski-ville. From the first game in 1906 through yet another Final Four appearance following the 2003-04 season, 100 Years of Duke Basketball provides fans with an insider's look at Duke basketball and the people who have made it a national legend.

Each drill is presented with a thorough explanation and diagram.

Customer Review: The book taught me alot. I can REBOUND!

I think George Karl wrote a very exelent book on the proper way to fight for a rebound. He taught me how to position, how to time, how to stand, and how to jump for a rebound. The drills taught to me in this book helped me do all these things and much much more. My speed and agility were increased from practicing the rebounding drills. Before reeding this book I was unable to get rebounds with any regularity or consistency. Now with techniques from George Karl's book "101 Basketball Rebounding Drills" I am a constant competitor for a rebound.

This book is tremendous, it gives you insight on what makes Karls' teams go, and the tremendous attention to detail that he has and implements into his gameplan. I would recommend this book to coaches on any and all levels. There are so many excellent drills I find myself haggling over which ones I will use next season.

Customer Review: Great Basketball Drill book, Ode to cover of Detlef Schrmepf, one of top 75 NBA players of alltime!

[Four of Four stars] George Karl and Terry
Stotts do very good work here. The diagrams
are easy to follow and the funky Tueton on
the cover is Detlef Schrempf, former 16-yr.
NBA Forward/Guard. Detlef in german is 'Der-
rick' and 'Schrempf' is short [and he was 6'
10"!]

Customer Review: Excellent drills for competitive AAU basketball teams

Boys and girls youth AAU basketball throughout the United States is extremely competitive. To this end, "101 Offensive Basketball Drills," by George Karl is an ideal book for AAU basketball coaches who are looking to maximize team skills. This book is certain to assist new and veteran coaches alike with conditioning, ball-handling, screening, passing, shooting, rebounding and fast-break drills. Moreover, the offensive drills are presented in easy to understand diagrams with concise implementation instructions. On the downside, this is a succinct drill book with very little coaching narrative. Any coach looking for comprehensive strategy or fundamental basketball insights should go elsewhere...this book is primarily a blackboard practice resource. Nevertheless, I found "101 Offensive Basketball Drills," an excellent tool to liven up practices and introduce new ways to improve the education of players. Recommended. Bert Ruiz
